During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Michael Steppie was awarded Fellowship in the American College of Physicians during a virtual ACP Convocation Ceremony presented by ACP President Robert M. McLean, MD, MACP. American College of Physicians is the largest medical-specialty organization in the United States comprised of internal medicine physicians who apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise for the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the full spectrum from health to complex illness. In addition, Dr. Steppie is also one of a select group of elite dermatologists and Mohs skin cancer surgeons who is a member of the Skin Cancer Foundation's Amonette Circle. Honored with multiple Distinguished Physician Recognition Awards from the AMA, the American Association of Physicians Specialists (AAPS), Dr. Steppie was appointed to and served on the Board of Directors for the AAPS for 2017-18.
Although highly recognized as one of Central Florida’s leading dermatologists, Dr. Steppie completed residences in dermatology, dermatology surgery, and internal medicine. “My focus is on healthy lifestyle habits and raising awareness and prevention,” remarked Dr. Steppie in a recent media interview. “My most important goal is to help patients in any way I can.” Throughout his time at Associates in Dermatology, Dr. Steppie's highly influential work and unparalleled effort to educate communities about life-saving dermatologic solutions has earned him a mantle full of prestigious awards and recognitions, including numerous Vitals Patient's Choice and Compassionate Doctor awards.
Through affiliations with numerous civic organizations, foundations, and charities, Dr. Steppie has brought free medical services to uninsured and indigent Central Florida patients. In the past, our Sumterville location assisted with area needs for services to elder, rural, minority and underserved populations through a Federally Qualified Health Center, where qualified patients received enhanced coverage from Medicare and Medicaid. Moreover, free dermatology services continue to be provided through the Orange County Government Special Care and Osceola County Council on Aging. Other charities where Dr. Steppie actively contributes include Bridges of Light Foundation, Universal Orlando Foundation/Supporting the Sunshine Foundation, Shepherd's Hope and Runway to Hope.
Associates in Dermatology is committed to caring for our patients during the COVID-19 outbreak. We are also taking the recommended steps to protect the health and safety of our patients as well as our dedicated team members to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
